Frequently asked questions.

What is Herbalism?

Herbalism is a holistic health service that relies on the power of medicinal plants. Herbalism encourages us to reacquaint ourselves with the rhythms and cycles of the body in order to make impactful, lasting changes to our well-being.

What can I expect when working with an herbalist?

Lauren’s one-on-one clinic takes place in a safe and welcoming online place. You can expect a thorough initial intake that covers your health history, body systems, and any current concerns/goals followed by an individualized protocol of medicinal plants, food as medicine, lifestyle recommendations, and functional testing to support your well-being and sustained health. Consultation notes outlining points discussed in the session are clearly explained and emailed over alongside any herbal medicines/supplements needed.

Clients are encouraged to bring themselves wholly to sessions.

Is herbalism safe for me or my children?

The practice of utilizing plants as medicine is woven into humankind’s evolution. Herbalism serves to reacquaint you with the cycles of your body and can be extremely safe under the care of a practiced herbalist. Always inform your practitioner of your/your child’s health history in order to receive the safest, most effective treatment.

Can I use herbs every day?

You probably already are! Kitchen herbalism (or food as medicine) is one of Lauren’s favorite plant practices. That said, the medicinal plant world is a varied place and there is no exact formula or frequency for everyone. Always work with a qualified herbalist for any questions regarding the proper dosage for you.

How do I know if the herbs are working?

Some common side effects you might experience when working with herbs include heeding the messages of your body, getting in tune with your natural rhythms and cycles, liberation from the dependence on a healthcare system that undermines your natural intuition, greater peace, increased self-advocacy, an understanding of root causes affecting your health, and of course, symptom relief. Many health issues are deep-seated and will require consistency for the greatest impact.

Will herbalism fit into my current lifestyle?

Lauren works with clients to define a health regimen that fits within their current lifestyle needs.

Where do I buy herbs from?

Lauren will always provide consultation notes outlining any herbal medicines/supplements needed alongside where to easily source them.

What are your qualifications?

Lauren is certified in Clinical Herbalism and holds additional certifications in Ayurvedic herbs, natural skincare formulation, and plant-based nutrition.
